The misspelt sign

North Yorkshire Council has pledged to correct a misspelt road sign in Knaresborough.

The sign, saying 'Buisnesses Open As Usual', was put up at the junction of Forest Moor Drive and the B6163 Thistle Hill, close to The Cricketers pub at Calcutt.

Martyn Boswell posted a photo of it on a Facebook page over the weekend, alongside the comment 'words fail me'.

It received more than 100 reactions and numerous comments, which included, 'clearly not just you that words fail'.

The Stray Ferret contacted the council to ask how the mistake happened and when it would be rectified.

Melisa Burnham, the council’s highways area manager, said:

We thank the public for bringing this to our attention and have asked our contractors to correct the sign as soon as possible.
