The future of a well-known Ripon furniture business has been secured.
The Castle on North Street was last year listed for sale for £49,950 due to the retirement of owner and director Graham Wilkes, as reported by the Stray Ferret in November.
The shop, which has been operating for more than 30 years, sells homeware, furniture and gifts.
But The Castle will continue trading under new owners after Mr Wilkes confirmed the shop has been sold, subject to contract.
He told the Stray Ferret:
The Castle has been sold, with the new owners Robert and Zoe Nemes taking over on March 31.
Mr Wilkes said the new owners’ have a background in furniture, and a “very good understanding of the industry”.
He added:
They are keeping our suppliers and stock. They will then take the business forward with their own ideas and plans for the future. I will be wishing them nothing but success.
Mr Wilkes last year told the Stray Ferret he hoped the new owner would “keep up the business successfully and move forward with the times”.
The Rightmove listing said the shop was for sale so Mr Wilkes could take a “well-deserved retirement after many happy years in the business”.
It added The Castle has established an “excellent reputation in the trade”, attracting a “local and loyal client base, as well as customers from further afield”.
