Ripon marked the 80th anniversary of VJ Day with free to attend family events on Market Square, staged over the weekend by the city council.
On Friday evening, attendees were entertained by the award-winning Rock Choir, with its playlist of contemporary songs. The live music continued with tribute act Bon Adams performing chart-topping pop classics.
The Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Jackie Crozier, was present for the traditional setting of the watch ceremony carried out at 9pm by Adrian Mardon, a member of the city's team of hornblowers.

The Jelly Roll Jazz Band will be back to perform next Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon, the music switched from rock and pop classics to jazz, with roving performances by the Jelly Roll band.
The trio will be returning to Market Square next Saturday (August 23) between 2pm and 4pm for the last free family event of the summer being organised by the city council and paid for by council taxpayers through the Ripon parish precept.
Between 12 noon and 6pm, there will be free fairgound rides for children.
On Saturday, there were fairground rides for younger children.
