Harrogate 10k to return this summer

Harrogate's 10k race will return this summer.
Harrogate Harriers’ annual multi-terrain race achieved its biggest entry ever last year. Of the 1,000 places available, a total of 824 runners entered.
The club is hoping that it can emulate similar numbers this time.
The event, which starts at 10am, will be held on June 29 and will start and finish at Harrogate Sports and Fitness Club, on Hookstone Wood Road.
Proceeding through the Crimple Valley area, the course is approximately 70% tarmac with the rest on footpaths.
Runners will endure the fluctuations of the area's hilly terrain – there is a combined ascent of 531ft and descent of 528ft. The last kilometre of the race is named the ‘Crimple killer’ – an uphill climb to the finish line.
The race will again be proceeded by a children’s fun run, where only 100 places are available.
There are currently 814 places left for the event. Harrogate Harriers will be running promotions until June to inspire more people to get involved.
Blue and yellow promotion signs will start to appear on key local running routes, and two parkrun ‘takeovers’ will be taking place by the club – at Fountains Abbey on May 3 and Harrogate on June 7.
Race Director Dan Atkinson said:
We are conscious that with the cost-of-living crisis, we need to make our event great value, which is why with the help of Harmony Energy we have kept our entry prices at the same level as last year, and indeed the year before.
Now we need everyone to get involved and have a terrific day.
Harmony Energy is sponsoring the event again this year.
Entry is £21 for unaffiliated runners and £19 for members of affiliated UK athletics members. If the race does not sell out online, tickets will be available to purchase on the day for an additional £2.
