Olsi Papa, owner of Papitos wine bar in Harrogate and the former Hoxton North site.

A Harrogate coffee shop unit is set to reopen under new ownership just a week after it closed.

Hoxton North, on Royal Parade overlooking the Crown roundabout, shut its doors at the end of March after 13 years of trading.

Tim Bosworth, owner of the cafe, said ongoing costs for small independent hospitality businesses had become “increasingly challenging”.

Former England manager Gareth Southgate, a regular at Hoxton North, was among those who wished Mr Bosworth the best.

However, new owner Olsi Papa will reopen the site under a new name this week.

The Silver Fox, which will open on Thursday, will continue where Hoxton North left off.

Mr Papa, who also owns Papitos wine bar on John Street, told the Stray Ferret the venture will offer the same cafe experience as Hoxton, but will operate as a bar at weekends.

He said:

It is going to be the same. The only difference is on a Saturday it will open as a wine bar until 10pm.

It is the same staff and the same chef.

Mr Papa said he felt it was important to “keep the site going” as it became a popular spot for coffee and brunches.

He said:

I've always wanted this spot as I like small and quirky spaces. But I wanted to keep it going, I wanted it to be same.

He added that the cafe will reopen this week, but will likely close towards the end of the year for a full refurbishment to take place.

The Silver Fox will open on Thursday (April 9) at 9.30am.
