A Harrogate hairdresser is restructuring her business model after deciding to continue running her salon as a sole trader.
Kate Borgen set up her company, Ikonik Hair Ltd, in April 2020, at the height of the covid pandemic.
The business has traded successfully for several years, emphasising its expertise in colouring hair. Last year, one of its stylists last year won a national award in the 'extension specialist' category.
But according to a notice published in The Gazette, which is the official public record, creditors of the business were set to meet online today to consider a resolution to wind the company up.
Under insolvency legislation, Ms Borgen, who is the company's sole director, is seeking a decision from creditors on the nomination of joint liquidators.
But Ms Borgen told the Stray Ferret that the process is purely a legal one, and that she will continue to run her King's Road salon as a sole trader.
She added that there would be no change to the business from her customers' point of view.
