Details of a high-end women’s clothing brand headed for Harrogate have been revealed.
The Stray Ferret reported in February ME + EM had lodged plans to display signs outside a vacant unit on Prospect Crescent.
It also sought listed building consent to make alterations to the shopfront.
The plans have since been approved but the company, founded in 2009, has released little information about the opening.
However, ME + EM is now recruiting for a store manager at the Harrogate site, so the Stray Ferret approached the brand to ask when it is set to open and how many jobs will be created.
A spokesperson said the Harrogate store will open in November but did not provide an exact date.
They added:
In terms of number of staff that hasn't been finalised yet as it will depend on factors such as how many are part time vs full time. However, the team will consist of a store manager, an assistant manager and some style advisors.
A drawing submitted as part of the plans.
There has been little discernible change at the Prospect Crescent site over recent months, but there appeared to be signs of life there this week.
ME + EM markets itself as a high-quality womenswear brand, which offers customers a “wear-forever appeal”.
Dubbed the “working woman’s MVP [most valuable player]” by British Vogue, ME + EM’s move to Harrogate is significant for local retail.
The local store will be the first outside of a city and only the second location in the north of England, alongside Manchester.
