The new site.

An Indian supermarket looks to be opening on a main Harrogate street.

Swastik Indian Supermarket Ltd, trading as Swastik Supermarket, has taken over the former GoHerbs unit on Station Parade.

The health supplement store closed its doors in October 2023.

But the site is set for a new lease of life as a sign advertising a premises licence for the supermarket has been put up in the window.

The notice seeks approval to sell alcohol at the retail unit between the hours of 8am and 1am, Monday to Sunday.

According to its Companies House page, Swastik Supermarket falls into three categories: retail sale of fruit and vegetables, retail sale of beverages and retail sale of tobacco products.

The managing director is listed as Dr Pinky Jodha, who is also a director at Agastya Exotica Holidays Ltd, Companies House says.

Swastik Supermarket signage has also been erected at the site, but little information on the new opening has been released.

A new Indian restaurant is also set to open just metres away from the supermarket in the former Nutrition Joe’s store.

The owners of Jodphur, which markets itself as a “tribute to the rich culinary heritage of Jodhpur city”, told the Stray Ferret it will open its doors at the end of this month.
