Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen has been fined over £1,600 and had nine points added to his licence for speeding and using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.
Kristensen is the second United player from Harrogate to be penalised for speeding in Harrogate this month.
The case against the Danish international was heard at Harrogate Magistrates Court this morning when Kristensen was fined £1,000 for speeding and a further £666 for using a mobile at the wheel.
Kristensen, 26, of North Park Road, had six points added to his licence for using a phone while driving and three points for the speeding offence, which occurred on the A6040 Knaresborough Road in Harrogate on February 19 last year.
He was ordered to pay £180 prosecution costs and a £666 statutory surcharge for the speeding offence.
The court had considered a driving ban but Kristensen, a right back currently on loan at Italian Serie A side Roma, was allowed to keep his licence.
