8.50am: Building evacuated - everyone safe

A company media person on site has told us the firm was alerted to a problem at 7am and everyone was evacuated safely. She added:

"The fire services are on site and investigating."

There are two main buildings on site: Taylors of Harrogate's office and factory and the Bettys bakery. The spokesperson said the incident involves the Taylors building and the Bettys building is unaffected.

The road has been blocked but there are a lot of firefighters on scene but the situation is calm and there does not appear to be a serious fire.

8.29am: Fire crews in attendance

Several crews from North and West Yorkshire have been called to the company's site at Plumpton Park, behind the Morrisons supermarket.

A firefighter at the scene said it was thought fire had broken out in the roof although the nature of the incident has not been confirmed yet.

Traffic has been diverted away from the building.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
