A man has been charged following a fatal collision near Pateley Bridge.
Bailey Chadwick, 19, died after he was struck by a vehicle on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley and Glasshouses, in the early hours of Sunday, July 20.
There have been few updates in the case since then – until now.
North Yorkshire Police this morning (December 22) said a 25-year-old man was last night charged with driving a motor vehicle when over the prescribed limit and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without insurance.
He is due in court on February 12.
However, police added: “It’s important that we stress that our investigation remains active; the same man is still being investigated for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.”
A woman in her 20s, who was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, remains under investigation.
Police urged the public not to speculate online so to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.
The force added:
The incident happened on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses as Bailey was walking home during the early hours of Sunday (20 July 2025).
