A man has been jailed for four months after committing two offences in Harrogate.

Joshua Thorpe, who was already a serving prisoner and whose address is listed as HMP Hull, appeared at York Magistrates Court on July 1 charged with affray and possession of a knife in a public place.

Thorpe pleaded guilty to both offences.

According to court documents, the 18-year-old defendant used or threatened reasonable violence towards someone at a property on Parklands View in Harrogate.

Thorpe’s behaviour on May 24 would have led the victim to fear for their own safety.

On the same day, Thorpe had a kitchen knife in his possession on Parklands View.

The magistrates sentenced Thorpe to a total of 26 weeks in custody for the offences.

The bench also imposed a deprivation order, which means the kitchen knife will be discarded.

Thorpe is already serving a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence, imposed at York Crown Court on May 26, after being convicted of possession with intent to supply heroin; possession with intent to supply cocaine; possession of cannabis and possession of MDMA.

The 26-week term will run concurrently to Thorpe's existing prison sentence.
