No further action has been taken against a group of teenagers arrested on suspicion of firearms offences in Knaresborough, police have said.

North Yorkshire Police arrested four teenagers – including two boys aged 17 and two men aged 18 – on May 20 after an alleged incident on Chain Lane.

The teens allegedly threatened a man, police said at the time, adding they then drove past him and threatened him with “what he believed was a viable firearm”.

In a statement, the police also said at the time:

Their car was traced by officers and stopped in the Chain Lane area of Knaresborough at around 9.30pm on 20 May.

The vehicle was searched and officers recovered three imitation firearms.

Two of the suspects were arrested on suspicion of affray and firearms offences, and another two were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

However, in an update on Tuesday (August 26), the police told the Stray Ferret no further action has been taken against the teenagers.

A spokesperson said:

Following extensive enquiries, the four people arrested will face no further action in connection with this incident.
