North Yorkshire Police has released footage of a driver more than three times over the limit as part of its summer campaign against drink and drug driving.
Officers released the video to warn the public as it begins a month-long crackdown on people driving under the influence.
With warmer weather, summer socialising and the Euro 2024, drunk driving incidents are expected to increase during July.
The footage shows a 48-year-old man from the York area swerving on the A162 near Tadcaster.
He was pulled over and a breath test revealed he had 115 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35. He received a 24-month driving disqualification.
In a statement issued this week, North Yorkshire Police pledged to increased surveillance and stop checks throughout July.
It said it would increase the number of vehicles, marked and unmarked, to patrol streets in the county, and to conduct more static stop checks in the evenings and early mornings.
Alex Butterfield, chief inspector at North Yorkshire Police, said:
As police officers, we are far too familiar with the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions. A lot of these could have been prevented if individuals had stopped to think about their actions before choosing to drive under the influence.
A serious or fatal collision often causes devastation and heartache for many people all the way from the emergency services staff to the friends, family, and colleagues of the loved one.
Police urged people who suspect anyone of driving under the influence to call 999, or provide anonymous information through the charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
