The are lots of warehouses and industrial units on Claro Road, but most are in use.

More than 1,000 mature cannabis plants have been seized by police at an industrial unit in Harrogate.

On entering the property on Claro Road, officers also confiscated equipment used to cultivate the plants, as well as some personal items. All the plants have now been destroyed.

However, the investigation into the 'grow' and the people behind it is ongoing.

North Yorkshire Police said in a statement today (March 31) they seized the plants on on March 9.

They added :

Anyone who has any information that can assist the investigation is asked to email Heather.Bradbury@northyorkshire.police.uk or call North Yorkshire Police on 101.

If you wish to remain anonymous you can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online via their website.

Police did not give any information as to the potential street value of the plants, but when Surrey Police seized "over 1,000" mature plants from a grow last October, that force estimated their value at £1.7 million.

These are similar to the compost containers used by the growers at the Claro Road cannabis farm.

Meanwhile, the owner of the unit was left with over 500 large tubs of compost, which they have been advertising on Facebook and giving away to gardeners.

The tubs are 39-litre containers made of porous material and are described on one website selling hydroponics equipment popular with cannabis farmers as a “firm favourite with growers”.

The owner was asked about the plants, the grow, and its exact location, but they declined to comment.
