The drivers of two vehicles captured in a CCTV image appeal following a fatal collision near Pateley Bridge have been traced, police have said.
Bailey Chadwick, 19, died after being struck by a vehicle on the B6265 between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses in the early hours of Sunday, July 20.
North Yorkshire Police yesterday (August 5) issued images of two cars, which were captured on CCTV in the area on the night of the hit-and-run, in hopes of identifying the drivers.
In an update today (August 6), police said they have traced the drivers of both vehicles and they are helping officers with the investigation.
The force added:
The team who are investigating the fatal hit and run that occurred in Pateley Bridge on Sunday 20 July 2025 appealed for information yesterday (Wednesday 05 August 2025) to trace the drivers of two vehicles.
Following our appeal the drivers of both vehicles have made contact with us. There is currently no indication that the vehicles have been involved in the collision and the drivers are helping us with our enquiries.
Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal.
The appeal came after a woman in her 20s was last week arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She was released under investigation.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving just days before, but was later bailed and banned from entering North Yorkshire.
Today’s police statement also said:
