A serial shoplifter from Harrogate has been jailed following a string of alcohol thefts.
Hani Hemmat, 46, of Bower Street, appeared at York Magistrates Court on Tuesday (October 29) charged with four counts of theft.
Hemmat admitted stealing £21.35 worth of alcohol from the Co-op on Grantley Drive on October 6, two £6 bottles of Lime Tree Chardonnay from the Co-op on Knaresborough Road on October 13, an £8.50 bottle of wine from Tesco Express at the Starbeck High Street Esso garage on October 10 and a £12 bottle of Prosecco from the Cambridge Street Marks & Spencer on October 16.
Hemmat had pleaded guilty to the thefts at Tesco Express and M&S previously on October 18. He admitted both Co-op thefts on Tuesday.
All of the thefts happened while he was serving a suspended sentence and this, along with his previous record of offending, led to him being jailed.
Magistrates also considered his guilty plea.
Hemmat was handed a 22-week prison sentence.
