Ripon Cathedral’s choral evensong today will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 (February 11).
The cathedral posted on social media yesterday that everyone is welcome to attend the service at 3pm, which features the cathedral’s highly rated choir.
It added:
We can’t wait to share this special moment of music and worship with you – whether you are joining us in person or listening to the radio.
For those wishing to attend, please be seated by 2.45pm latest and once the service begins at 3pm we require people to stay for the full service in order to minimise disruption to the live broadcast.
The service will be led by the Dean of Ripon, John Dobson, and the choir will be conducted by the cathedral’s director of music, Dr Ronny Krippner. The organist will be assistant director of music Tim Harper.
The service will be repeated on Radio 3 on Sunday, February 15 at 3pm.
Choral evensong services take place every night at Ripon Cathedral except Mondays and Saturdays.
You can read an interview with Dr Ronny Krippner here.
A recording of the service will be available afterwards here.
