Jackie Crozier will be the next mayor of Ripon, it was announced today.
Ripon City Council said in a statement Cllr Crozier, who represents Spa ward, had been named mayor elect for the 2025-26 term and will ‘champion the city of Ripon’ in the civic role.
Cllr Crozier will be accompanied by her consort, Lorna Fassnidge, during her mayoral year.
Born and educated in Ripon, Cllr Crozier runs Little Bird Artisan Markets and was elected to the city council in 2022.
She has strong Ripon connections. Her parents managed the historic Fleece pub and after a career in the events industry, including a stint as festival director of Manchester Pride, she returned to Ripon in 2018.
Cllr Crozier said:
I am delighted to represent the city I was born and bred in as mayor. I look forward to championing our great city and being an advocate for our community.
During her tenure, Cllr Crozier will fundraise for Saint Michael's Hospice, which looked after her mum, and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The statement said she has previously helped raise over £50,000 for charities.
The annual mayor making ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, and the mayor's
installation service will be held at Ripon Cathedral on May 11.
