The Bay Horse Inn

A village pub near Knaresborough is to reopen under new management tomorrow (October 18).

The Bay Horse Inn at Goldsborough, which closed less than two weeks ago, was formerly run by Goldsborough Hall owners, Mark and Clare Oglesby.

The Oglesbys said this month they had “failed to agree” terms with Stonegate Group, which owns the pub, about renewing the lease.

The couple added they buy the inn from Stonegate but were unsuccessful, and instead chose to pass the reins to new tenants after five years of operating the venue.

The Bay Horse Inn this week revealed it would reopen but it is unclear who has taken it on.

The Stray Ferret asked the pub for further information, but did not receive a response.

However, the pub’s Facebook page said a menu will be released soon, which will be a slightly reduced version of the former menu.

“We can’t wait to welcome you back”, the page adds.

The pub is also hiring for a number of roles, including kitchen and front of house staff.

The Bay Horse Inn at Golsborough will open at 5pm tomorrow. It will open from midday until 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and from midday until 6pm on Sundays.

The Oglesbys have bought the nearby Tiger Inn at Coneythorpe.

The pub, which suffered two fires in three years, was listed for sale at £495,000 in February.

The couple said the pub required a lot of work but they hoped to open by next spring.
