Katherine Ryan speaking to the Stray Ferret at the premiere.

Actress and comedian Katherine Ryan has predicted Knaresborough will become a “tourist hotspot” thanks to Christmas film Tinsel Town.

Ryan joined co-stars Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson at the world premiere of Tinsel Town – a festive comedy partly shot in Knaresborough – at Vue cinema in Leicester Square last night (November 27).

The Stray Ferret was on the press line at the event and spoke exclusively to the stars about their time in the Harrogate district.

Ryan is originally from Canada but has lived in the UK for years. The honorary Brit told us she has been gigging in Yorkshire for around 18 years and that comedians love performing in the county as people are "really generous and laugh more".

Ryan, who plays Bradley Mack’s (Kiefer Sutherland) long-suffering agent, didn’t film any scenes in Knaresborough – her Hollywood office scenes were shot at a studio in Leeds – but she believes tourists will flock to the already well-known town.

Asked how she would sell Yorkshire to someone who has never been, Ryan told the Stray Ferret people will find cobbled streets, delicious food and nice people.

Oh, and for any men reading this, she also said: “the men are hot... northern men".

Watch our exclusive interview with Ryan in full below and find our red carpet chat with star Rebel Wilson by clicking here.

What is Tinsel Town?

Tinsel Town, which will be released on Sky and NOW next Friday (December 5), tells the story of Hollywood actor Bradley Mack whose career is spiralling.

With no other options, his agent (Ryan) lands him a theatrical role in England. Much to Bradley’s surprise – or dismay – it’s a role in the local production of Cinderella.

There he meets choreographer Jill - played by Rebel Wilson – and the rest of the cast, and quickly becomes embroiled in a traditional British pantomime.

An early screening of Tinsel Town is being held at the Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough on Tuesday (December 2), whilst a number of pubs across the town are celebrating Knaresborough’s fandom with free screenings on the offical release day.

Keep an eye out for more of our exclusive Tinsel Town premiere coverage.
