A woman appeared in court today (May 19) accused of arson in Boroughbridge.

Stacey Hinks, of no fixed abode, appeared at York Magistrates Court charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered at a property on Springfield Grove.

The 34-year-old is yet to enter a plea to the offence.

The case was transferred to York Crown Court, where Ms Hinks will next appear on June 30.

North Yorkshire Police yesterday said a woman had been arrested on Saturday evening.

Five fire crews were called to tackle the blaze shortly before 11pm on May 15, which destroyed a bungalow and affected two other nearby homes.

Police launched a criminal investigation the following day (Friday 16).
