A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a pub near Knaresborough.
Firefighters from Knaresborough, Harrogate, Acomb, Tadcaster, Ripon and Wetherby were called to the Cricketers pub on Thistle Hill in Calcutt at 4.02am after fire ripped through the building.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said an aerial ladder platform was deployed to pump a huge volume of water through the roof to douse the flames.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The Stray Ferret attended the scene this morning, which you can read more about here.
In a statement this afternoon, North Yorkshire Police said following an examination of the scene by police crime scene investigators and fire investigation officers, it is now believed that the fire was started deliberately.
A force statement added:
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson, she currently remains in police custody. Thankfully no one was injured during this incident.
The investigation is continuing, officers are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact them. Please call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 12250057010.
