Pitcher & Piano has returned to Harrogate after closing its doors just under two years ago.
The John Street bar, which is owned by brewery Marston's PLC, bid farewell to Harrogate in November 2023, when it was taken over by Harewood Group and renamed The Harlow.
The company transformed the site into Harrogate’s first Irish bar, The Four Leaf, the following March but last month announced it was set to close.
Marston's confirmed the bar would once again rebrand, as reported by the Stray Ferret last week, and is officially opening its doors as Pitcher & Piano today (October 22).
The Stray Ferret visited the site this morning. Whilst the final touches were still being put together, area operations manager Jason Camilerri told us he and the team hoped to welcome customers this afternoon.
But what can people expect? Mr Camilerri said:
The idea is we create that sort of party vibe with entertainment on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which will be a mixture of live music and DJs.
Bottomless brunch will also be a big part of what we do; Saturday will be heavily focussed on bottomless brunches, with themed brunches and special occasions.
We just want to create that good vibe and people to come out and enjoy it.
Food will also be served at Pitcher & Piano throughout the week, with lunch dishes and small plates on offer.
There will also be buffets, Christmas menus and private hire options available, Mr Camilerri said, adding a breakfast service will also begin after Christmas.
Pitcher & Piano’s return marks the site’s third rebrand in just under two years. The Stray Ferret asked Mr Camilerri why Marston's decided to revive the bar in Harrogate.
He said:
P&P (Pitcher & Piano) has a good history with Harrogate, it had been here for quite a long time. We’ve had a bit of a resurgence at our bars this year… so when this came up we decided to test it and see if we could make it work [post-covid].
I think it’s more about the relationship Pitcher & Piano has with Harrogate. With the timing, we just thought: ‘let’s have a go at it’.
Jobs were transferred from The Four Leaf to Pitcher & Piano, with eight team members taking on roles at the new bar.
Mr Camilerri told the Stray Ferret the bar is still recruiting and looks set to employ an additional six-to-10 people.
He added:
I'd tell people to just come back and give us a try - re-live the nostalgia. We're hoping to bring the vibe back so people have a good time, and we will create reasons to come.
Come and give us a go.
Pitcher and Piano will open daily from midday, with food served until 8pm.
It will close at 11pm during the week and at midnight on weekends.
