5 things to do in and around Harrogate this weekend, August 21-23
Enjoy a weekend of local art, craft, food and entertainment
Pateley Makers Yard will open its studio doors this weekend, giving visitors the chance to discover the work of local makers, artists and craftspeople.
The two-day event in Pateley Bridge will feature Open Studios from resident creatives, including jewellers, furniture makers, sculptors and antiques dealers, alongside pop-up exhibitions and an artisan market showcasing ceramics, textiles, fine art, woodwork, and locally made food and drink.

NiddArt Trail gets under way this weekend, bringing together artists, makers and craftspeople across Nidderdale for a celebration of the area’s creative talent.
Alongside local artists, the trail also features visiting artists, giving audiences the chance to discover work from creatives from further afield alongside established names from the region.
With exhibitions, open studios and demonstrations taking place at venues throughout the dale, the trail offers an opportunity to explore a wide range of work, including painting, ceramics, jewellery, photography, textiles, glass and sculpture.

Tickle your tastebuds at Harrogate Food and Drink Festival
Taking place at Ripley Castle this weekend, the Harrogate Food & Drink Festival returns for its seventh year.
The family-friendly festival brings together international street food, independent drinks producers and artisan food stalls, alongside live cookery demonstrations, music and entertainment.
This year’s Cookery Theatre features chefs and food experts including Ruth Hansom, Adam Degg of Michelin-starred FIFTY TWO at Rudding Park, Jessica Wyatt of Mama Doreen’s Emporium and Lisa Bennison of Bettys Cookery School.
The festival will also feature family activities, live performances and a range of independent traders.
Free for under fives, from £6.95 for under 16s, £11.95 for adults, 10am to 8pm on August 22, and 10am to 7pm on August 23, Ripley Castle Chapel Flats (next to Ripley Cricket Club), Ripley Castle, HG3 3AY.

Knaresborough’s FEVA festival returns this weekend with a packed programme of live music, entertainment and family activities across the town.
The festivities get underway on Friday with street performances from Magic Keith, the return of Boats and Burgers, the Knaresborough Lions Club beer festival and evening performances from Vincent Flatts Final Drive and Ebor Quartet.
Saturday brings the festival’s main event, Picnic in the Park at Knaresborough House, alongside live music, a pop-up Afghan kitchen, a talk by author Gervase Phinn and performances at venues including Ripley Town Hall and The Mitre.
Sunday rounds off the weekend with the FEVA family bike ride, more live music, an ABBA tribute, a sing-along screening of Mamma Mia and an end of FEVA silent disco at Conyngham Hall.
See classic cars, live motorsport, music and more
Mathewsons Live returns to the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate this weekend for a two-day celebration of motoring, motorsport and live entertainment.
Visitors can see live rally stages in action and explore a display of more than 500 classic cars, trucks and motorbikes.
The event will also feature live music and a selection of food and drink, making it suitable for motoring enthusiasts as well as families and visitors looking for a day out.
Free for under fives, £20 for children aged five to 15 years old, £49 for adults, 9.30am to 5.30pm on 22 and 23 August, Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, HG2 8NZ.
