A flood warning has been issued for Boroughbridge camping and caravanning site on the River Ure.
The warning, which was put out at 2.49am, says river levels are rising and “flooding of properties is expected today” at the Bar Lane location.
Environment Agency flood warnings are more serious than flood alerts, one of which was issued for low-lying areas of the Lower River Ure, around Masham, Ripon and Boroughbridge, as reported by the Stray Ferret.
The overnight warning said:
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Ure, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Boroughbridge Camping and Caravanning Site. Further rainfall is forecast today, and levels are expected to remain high.
We are operating flood defences in the area and will continue to monitor levels closely. Start acting on your flood plan. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
It added the message would be updated by 10.30am this morning.
A total of 59 flood warnings are currently active nationally.
However, locally the rain is expected to die away this morning before drier conditions take over.
