Planning permission has been granted to allow a holiday home in Burton Leonard to be converted into a Pilates studio.

The self-catering holiday home, Park House Cottages, is set to be transformed into a reformer Pilates studio, with space for five individuals per class. It is hoped that there will be around 30 classes a week.

The application, which was submitted to North Yorkshire Council, was made by a Pilates instructor who lives next to the cottage, with the hope to bring her work closer to home.

The studio intends to operate between 7am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday, and between 8am and 1pm on Saturday.

No alterations to the building’s structure are planned, but three more parking spaces will be created.

Internally, the studio would comprise of the main studio area with a changing room, store, waiting room and a small kitchen area.

The remaining cottages in the area will continue to be used as holiday homes.

No objections were made the planning application.
