Local MP accepts horse trials freebie
Sir Alec Shelbrooke accepted two tickets for Bramham Horse Trials with access to the members' enclosure, according to the latest declaration of MPs’ gifts.
The gift, detailed in the Register of Members’ Financial Interest, revealed the Conservative MP for Wetherby and Easingwold received the tickets for Sunday, June 14.
They are valued at £312.
Last month the Stray Ferret revealed Sir Alec received free tickets and hospitality in the directors’ box at Newcastle United, worth £643, for a Premier League match against West Ham United, who he supports.
Sir Alec's constituency includes towns and villages such as Boroughbridge, Bishop Monkton, Great Ouseburn and Spofforth.
The horse trials, which take place each year at Bramham Park, near Wetherby, is one of Europe’s leading three-day events.
Bramham Park, which also hosts the annual Leeds Festival, is owned by Nick Lane Fox.
The Stray Ferret asked Sir Alec why he had accepted the gift and whether he had received gifts or donations previously from the Lane Fox family.
