The Harrogate branch of a national watch, diamond and jewellery retailer will create nine new jobs.

Beaverbrooks is taking on the James Street unit formerly occupied by Hugh Rice, which closed last September.

The company said today (March 26) the shop will open its doors on April 11.

The Stray Ferret last month reported on the new opening, which comes amid a string of Beaverbrooks stores closing.

The Harrogate store will be the company’s 57th branch nationwide – and sixth in Yorkshire – and is undergoing an extensive refurbishment ahead of opening.

Anna Blackburn, managing director at Beaverbrooks, said:

We are delighted to arrive in Harrogate on Friday 11 April, where we will introduce 106 years of expertise and customer experience to the area.

The opening is an exciting moment for Beaverbrooks, as we continue to invest where there’s opportunity and drive value for the business.

The new Beaverbrooks store will stock watch brands, including OMEGA, Panerai, TAG Heauer and Grand Seiko.

To celebrate the launch of the Harrogate store, one visitor will win a nine-carat yellow gold and white gold diamond necklace worth £1,650.

Clare Watson, manager at Beaverbrooks Harrogate, said:

We’re delighted to bring Beaverbrooks to Harrogate and introduce our exceptional diamond, jewellery and watch collections to the local community. As a team, we have more than six decades of combined expertise in the jewellery and watch trade, so customers can rest assured that they will receive exceptional service and expert guidance.
