A new children’s clothing store is opening in Harrogate.
Eleanor Charles, founded in 2022, has taken over the Princes Street unit formerly occupied by insurance firm Clegg Gifford.
The country-style clothing brand caters to babies, young children and adolescents, and stocks a range of sleepsuits, tweed jackets, shirts, trousers, dresses and accessories.
It also sells womenswear, toys and cards.
Eleanor Charles founder and former solicitor, Katie Heptonstall, launched the brand after the pandemic.
When the Stray Ferret approached Ms Heptonstall for comment, she said:
We always hoped to open a shop in Harrogate as it is our hometown and my favourite place to shop. We saw 12 Princes Street was available, and quickly decided it is the perfect fit for us. It is conveniently located and spacious, which allows us to add a café area with a play corner, and also to showcase our growing product range.
Customers can expect a luxurious shopping experience in a space which we hope will feel like a home-from-home in town. There will be lots of flowers, friendly customer service, a full selection of our own branded baby and children’s wear and also other branded products, such as toys and accessories.
The Harrogate store is set to include baby and children’s clothing, a café, a private breastfeeding and baby changing area and a play area.
Ms Heptonstall added:
We are so excited to open the doors in Harrogate and to see all our plans come to life! We cannot wait to meet new customers and to see so many of our existing customers who are Harrogate-based.
The Harrogate site will open its doors on Saturday, October 11.
The local shop will be Eleanor Charles' second bricks-and-mortar store, with its first shop opening in York last October.
Clegg Gifford closed its doors in January, when the Harrogate office was cleared out, after opening in the town in July 2023.
