The Ripley Castle estate is expected to be listed for sale in autumn.

Sir Thomas and Lady Ingilby issued a statement last week announcing the estate, which has been owned by the family for 700 years, would be sold.

Mark Granger, the former chief executive of Carter Jonas who is acting as the property firm’s consultant for the sale, said October was the likeliest month when it would go on the market.

Full details of what will be included in the sale are not yet known, but the listing is likely to include the castle, the wedding wing, the tea room and coffee shop, the Boar’s Head pub, three or four cottages, the village shop and about 250 to 300 acres of land.

The asking price is also not yet known.

Weddings at the venue have been cancelled from next year due to the impending sale.

Shortly before the sale was announced, Sir Thomas confirmed he had reached an agreement to sell Ripley Town Hall, also known as the Hotel de Ville, to Ripley Star Club for £400,000.

The club, which runs the venue, is applying for grants to achieve the sum and has also started a crowdfunding campaign to generate £50,000.

Star Club secretary Andrew Herrington said:

We are applying for grant assistance towards the purchase but need to raise £50,000 towards the venture with all donations of £10.00 or more much appreciated. For those able to give £1,000 we offer lifetime membership of the Star Club and for £5,000 lifetime membership plus free access to our concerts for five years.
