Recreational acitvities in Ripon have been given added zip following the installation of new equipment at the Grove Lane play area,
A 25-metre zip line, installed by contractors employed by North Yorkshire Council, is now in place and will be ready to use within the next couple of days.
Andrew Williams, the leader of Ripon City Council, who also represents the Minster and Moorside division on North Yorkshire Council, proposed the installation.
He told the Stray Ferret:
Earlier this year, city councillors voted unanimously for the new equipment to be installed at this location and young people from all parts of the city will have the opportunity to use it. I'm pleased that the installation has come in time for Christmas and I'm sure that it will be well-used during the school holidays.
The newly-installed zip line at Grove Lane play area.
The zip line, has been funded out of the £62,000 communted sum paid by house builders who have developed the former Ripon Choir School site at nearby Whitcliffe Lane.
