Well-known womenswear brand to open Harrogate store
A well-known womenswear brand is set to open a standalone store in Harrogate.
Nobody’s Child, which currently operates shops in London, Brighton and Leeds, has taken over the James Street unit formerly occupied by Lucy Pittaway.
The art gallery and shop announced in January it would be closing, attributing the move to “rising operational costs”.
But Tom Limbert, director of Central Retail, which acted on behalf of the landlord, confirmed Nobody's Child would be taking over the James Street unit.
Mr Limbert told the Stray Ferret:
Nobody’s Child is a fantastic addition to James Street and proves how attractive the town is to high-end retailers. Once it was announced Lucy Pittaway was closing, we had numerous offers on the property and terms were quickly agreed with Nobody’s Child.
The brand stocks a wide range of women’s clothing, including dresses, tops, jackets, suits, swimwear and accessories.
Mr Limbert told the Stray Ferret Nobody’s Child hopes to open at the end of this month or in early May.
Nobody's Child has been contacted for comment.
'Store closing down' posters were put up in Russell & Bromley's window in January.
Russell & Bromley and LK Bennett, both of which have been long-term fixtures on James Street, are also preparing to close their Harrogate stores.
But those units also look set to be taken over, as Mr Limbert said:
New lettings have also been agreed on the LK Bennett and the former Russell & Bromley. Both should complete in early May. James Street really is one of the best high streets in the north of England.
