International sushi chain Yo! Sushi is closing its doors in Harrogate.
The restaurant, known for its conveyer belt service, has been operating in the town since 2016.
But a source today (August 22) told the Stray Ferret staff had been informed the Albert Street site will close next month.
The 14 staff members at the Harrogate venue have been told their jobs can be transferred to other Yo! Sushi restaurants - the nearest being York or Leeds.
The Stray Ferret approached Yo! Sushi for confirmation of the closure. A spokesperson this afternoon said:
Our Harrogate restaurant will be closing on 8th September. We would like to thank our colleagues and the Harrogate community for their support over the years, and we hope to see them soon at our restaurants in Leeds or York MacArthurGlen or in one of the 5,000 supermarkets across the UK where you can now buy our products.
As part of the normal course of business we review our estate. YO! does on occasion close certain restaurants, but at the same time is actively in the market for new locations.
The Stray Ferret asked Yo! Sushi why the local restaurant is closing but the company did not acknowledge that part of our enquiry.
Yo! Sushi launched in Soho in 1997 and has since opened more than 100 venues worldwide.
The Harrogate store was open as usual when the Stray Ferret visited today.
