Two fundraising pages have been set up to help families whose homes were damaged by a major fire in the Harrogate district in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The blaze began in a semi-detached house in Minskip and caused 100% fire damage to the first floor and smoke damage throughout.
The neighbouring property is also reported to have extensive smoke and fire damage.
People are rallying round to support the two families, so far raising almost £7,000 to go towards new furniture and appliances.
Two gofundme pages have been set up. The first was set up on Sunday by a friend of the owner of the house where the fire started, and has already raised £6,633.
The second was set up yesterday for the neighbour who has had to throw away a lot of belongings.
Both families are currently living elsewhere but are in need of donations to replace lost items.
Numerous posts have been made on local Facebook groups to encourage donations and people have offered bedding, children’s clothing and some furniture.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews to the address on Roecliffe Drive just after 1am Sunday morning.
It believed the fire was caused by a candle in one of the bedrooms, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Nobody was injured but the fire left the home in which it started uninhabitable.
A spokeswoman for the fire service told the Stray Ferret it was fortunate nobody was hurt.
Minskip is about a mile from Boroughbridge.
Early morning blaze ruins house in Harrogate districtAn unsupervised candle is believed to have caused a fire that badly damaged a house in Minskip in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters from Boroughbridge, Knaresborough and Harrogate using and aerial ladder platform and breathing apparatus rushed to the scene just after 1am.
Nobody was injured but the fire, which started in a bedroom, left the home in Roecliffe Drive uninhabitable.
The first floor suffered 100% fire damage and there is smoke damage throughout the building.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
“Crews used six breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, door enforcer, 9 metre ladder, thermal imaging camera and small tools.
“They also gained access to a neighbouring property to check for fire spread.”
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service told the Stray Ferret the adjoining semi-detached was not damaged and it was fortunate nobody was hurt.
Minskip is about a mile from Boroughbridge.

Knaresborough deliberate fire becomes one of many in recent weeks
A fire started by youths last night in Knaresborough joins a list of numerous others in recent weeks.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the fire on Hay-a-Park Lane around 9pm last night.
The Knaresborough crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire in the woods and gave advice to the the group.
This incident is amongst numerous others recorded in recent weeks. The fire service had already put out a plea on its social media recently in an attempt to combat the rise.
It asked parents and guardians to ensure they know what their children are up to now groups can meet outdoors.
The plea, later published of the fire service website, gave this advice:
“Please remind children that:
Deliberately starting fires is usually a criminal offence and even small fires can endanger lives
Fire spreads quickly and can be unpredictable
Playing with fire in the home or garden can have serious unintended consequences
Fires outside can easily get out of control and cause damage to woodland, moorland and wildlife.”

The fire service says this issue is repeated every year around Easter as the evenings become lighter.
Earlier this month a picnic bench was set alight near the Pinewoods, the fire service also believed this was started deliberately.
Last year The Stray Ferret found the number of deliberate fires, in June, July and August, had actually halved from those in 2019.
Firefighters called after Harrogate BBQ sets alight petrol canFirefighters were called to an address in Harrogate last night after a barbecue caused a petrol can to ignite.
Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough were summoned to a home on Rosewood Crescent.
According to the incident summary, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 9.14pm and used one hose reel to extinguish the fire, which spread to the back door of the property
The blaze caused 5% heat damage to the door. Firefighters gave the homeowners advice.

Later that night, a Harrogate crew attended another fire when an armchair was set alight in a home on Cold Bath Road.
The incident, at 1223am, was caused by a dropped cigarette. The resident had already extinguished the fire before the crew arrived.
The officers ventilated the property and gave advice.
Two hours later, two Ripon crews responded a to a fire that spread to nearby trees and bushes after a car was set alight.
The car, on St Wilfrids Crescent, is believed to have been deliberately torched.
The crews used a 45m jet, two dry powder extinguisher and a thermal imaging camera.
Ripon home devastated by early morning fireAn overnight fire has devastated a home in Ripon.
Crews from Ripon, Harrogate and Boroughbridge were summoned to deal with the blaze, which occurred in Westgate at about 1.45am this morning.
Smoking has been identified as a possible cause.
The fire broke out in a first floor bedroom.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service‘s incident summary said:
“The fire caused 100% fire damage to the bed and 60% fire damage to the bedroom, 100% smoke damage to the first floor and light smoke damage to ground floor.
“Crews used four breathing appartaus, one hose reel, small tools and positive pressure ventilation.
“The cause is unknown but may have been caused by smoking materials.”
Harrogate firefighters were also called to a fire in a children’s play park on Jenny Field Drive.
A bucket of water used to extinguish the fire, which occurred at about 6.15pm last night.

Picnic bench near Pinewoods goes up in flames
A picnic bench in Irongate Field near the Pinewoods in Harrogate went up in flames last night.
Firefighters from Harrogate attended the blaze at 9.30pm last night and used two backpack sprayers to dampen down the area.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has now confirmed it believes the fire was set deliberately.
The person who found the fire said that he found beer bottles around the bench.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said:
“A crew from Harrogate attended a fire in the open, this turned out to be a fire to a picnic bench.
“They used two knapsack sprayers and dampened down the area. The cause is believed deliberate.”

The callouts were part of a busy night in the Harrogate district for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, which also attended two incidents in Harrogate.
The first woodland fire occurred at 6.55pm when bracken and tree branches were set alight at the bottom of Nidd Bank cul-de-sac, close to the River Nidd.
Less than half an hour later more branches were set ablaze on the other side of the river, opposite Conyngham Hall.
A crew from Knaresborough extinguished both fires using water backpacks.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said:
“We can’t say for certain but it looks like the two fires were caused deliberately.”

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough were then called to reports of a dishwasher emitting sparks in Rutland Road, Harrogate shortly after 11pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s incident summary says:
“The occupier of the property used a dry powder extinguisher before fire crews arrived.
“Crews disconnected the appliance from the mains and checked it over as well as giving advice. They used a thermal imaging camera only.
“The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.”
At 2.39am this morning, two crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended a small bag of rubbish set on fire in flats on Robert Street. A security guard had put out the flames by the time they arrived.
Police were also called to the scene.
Fire service investigates cause of Starbeck home blazeThe fire service has launched an investigation into the cause of a blaze which devastated a house in Starbeck last night.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service attended the fire on Avenue Grove at around 8pm.
When crews arrived they found that the fire started in a bedroom on the first floor but had quickly spread to much of the first floor. Nobody was in the house on arrival.

It also caused smoke damage to the ground floor and neighbouring homes. Two people required treatment for smoke inhilation.
The homeowner told the Stray Ferret last night that the fire started in her son’s bedroom while she was downstairs celebrating her birthday. She said she did not know what caused the fire.
Crews used breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, 45mm jet, delta lance, triple extension ladder, lighting and thermal imaging camera to put out the fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended last night.
They evacuated neighbouring properties, cordoned off the area and advised people to avoid the area while they were dealing with the incident.
Now North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has confirmed that it is investigating the cause of the fire.
Neville Scott, red watch manager at Harrogate fire station, told the Stray Ferret last night that:
“It had the potential to be a very serious incident and spread to other properties because it was a terraced house.
“But the firefighters were able to prevent that.”
The home had a smoke alarm and the fire service said it was a reminder of how important it is to have a working fire alarm in all homes.
Starbeck home owner ‘absolutely devastated’ after fireA woman in Starbeck says she is “absolutely devastated” after a serious fire at her home tonight.
The owner of the house, who did not wish to be named, told the Stray Ferret the fire started in her son’s bedroom while she was downstairs celebrating her birthday.
She said she didn’t know how it started but she was “absolutely devastated”.
The house had only recently been redecorated.

Homes evacuated in Starbeck due to fire
Homes have been evacuated in Starbeck as firefighters battle a blaze that broke out this evening.
Two people are being treated for smoke inhalation but there are no reports of any further injuries at this time.
The fire, in Avenue Grove, was reported to North Yorkshire Police at about 8.20pm tonight.
The area has been cordoned off.
A police statement said:
“Members of the public are advised to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.”
