A new Greggs shop is set to open in Knaresborough this year, the high street bakery giant has confirmed.
Its location has yet to be officially announced, but it is believed to be at the former Fultons Foods unit on the High Street.
The building has remained empty since the frozen food store closed in March 2021.

A Greggs spokesperson told the Stray Ferret:
“Greggs is due to open a new shop in Knaresborough later this year. While we are unable to share any details at the moment, we will be sure to share further information in the coming months.”

A staff recruitment advert seeking ‘retail team members’ for the new branch has been posted online.
It lists the location as 32-32B High Street, the unit formerly occupied by Fultons.
The advert says:
Sneak Peek: New electric bike shop opens in Harrogate“Our shop will trade from 6:30am through to 6pm, Monday through Saturday, and 8am until 6pm on a Sunday.
“We are looking to build a team to support this new shop for us.”
The Electric Bike Shop opened in Harrogate today, hoping to capitalise on cycling’s increased popularity since lockdown.
The shop, situated in the former Fulton’s Food unit on Leeds Road, has about 50 electric bikes in store, with more coming soon. Brands include Raleigh, Cube and Moustache.
It also sells cycling accessories and has an in-store workshop that undertakes repairs for electric and non-electric bikes.

The bikes range in price from £1,600 to £8,000 and contain rechargeable batteries that can last for between 20 and 70 miles.
It is The Electric Bike Shop’s ninth shop in England. Five have opened in the last 18 months, highlighting the impact of covid and environmental concerns on cycling participation.

Kurt Davison, who manages the Harrogate branch, has been working in the electric bike market for eight years. He said:
“I’ve seen the industry grow and grow and it is now at a stage where it is no longer pigeon-holed as something for older people or people who don’t usually ride. Electric bikes make hills and headwind enjoyable!”
Harrogate Electric Bikes already operates in Harrogate and some other bike shops also include a selection of electric bikes.
The shop is in the former Fulton’s Foods unit on Leeds Road.
Alan Fowler, retail director of the Electric Bike Shop, said the quality of electric bikes had improved significantly in the last five years.
He added the product was well suited to Harrogate because it contained commuters to York and Leeds as well as pleasure riders in the Yorkshire Dales. He said:
“Harrogate suits our demographic really well.”
The shop employs three staff and plans to recruit one more.
Fultons store in Harrogate to close this week
The Fultons Food store in Harrogate town centre is set to close this week.
Staff in the shop on Station Parade have told customers it will close on Thursday and some items will be relocated to the Poundland store in the town’s Victoria Shopping Centre.
Fultons on Station Parade has been running a half price sale this week.
Poundland bought Barnsley-based Fultons in October. Since then, Fultons stores in Ripon and Knaresborough have closed.
When the Harrogate town centre store closes, the Leeds Road shop on the outskirts of Harrogate will be the district’s only remaining Fultons.
The Stray Ferret contacted both Fultons and Poundland for further details about the move and for an update on the future of the Leeds Road store.
Poundland sent a statement saying Harrogate would be one of 37 stores in July and August to be part of the latest phase of a project to extend the company’s range of chilled and frozen foods.
According to the statement, the Harrogate Poundland will start offering chilled and frozen foods in the week commencing August 16.
Jack Fulton founded Fultons in 1960. The first Poundland store opened in Burton upon Trent in 1990.
