Trains on the Harrogate line were stopped this morning after emergency services were called to deal with concerns for the safety of a teenager on Crimple Valley viaduct.
The concerns were first reported to police just after 5.30am, and both North Yorkshire Police and British Transport Police attended the scene.
They were joined by staff from Yorkshire Ambulance Service, while North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was on stand-by to help if needed.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:
“Police negotiators brought [it] to a safe conclusion just before 8.30am.
“A man aged in his late teens was checked over my paramedics and he is receiving medical support.”
Train services on the line had to be replaced by buses for a number of hours while police dealt with the incident.
The line is now clear, though Northern said delays to services could last “for some time due to displaced trains and crew”.

Police close Nidd Gorge viaduct in Bilton
Police have this morning closed the viaduct over Nidd Gorge in Bilton while they deal with an incident.
There was a heavy police presence around 9am but officers did not say how long they had been on the scene.
The viaduct is closed in both directions and numerous vehicles are stationed at the southern side towards Bilton Lane, behind a police cordon.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is reported to be on the scene as well.
It is not known how long the area is likely to be closed.
The gorge is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and runners.
The Stray Ferret has requested information from North Yorkshire Police but had not received a response at the time of publication.
We will update this story when further details are available.

What is being filmed at Crimple Valley viaduct?
Speculation has been mounting on social media after a photographer snapped pictures of a film crew in action at Crimple Valley viaduct yesterday.
James Forster, a wildlife photographer, set out to capture the wildlife in Crimple Valley when he spotted some unusual activity on the viaduct.
Pictures he shared with the Stray Ferret show a limousine, film crews with cameras and boom microphones as well as three actors preparing for the shoot.

It is unclear what film or TV show the film crew is working on. There has been much excitement in Leeds where Samuel L Jackson has been filming a new Marvel series for Disney Plus but he is not thought to have headed north to Harrogate.
Mr Forster’s images on Twitter provoked comments that ITV has been filming Emmerdale in the area.
The Stray Ferret asked ITV whether it was filming Emmerdale in Harrogate but the broadcaster said it was unable to comment at this time.
The 31-arch viaduct is one of the most photographed structures in the Harrogate district.
