A man has admitted to racially abusing a police officer in Harrogate.
James Gibb pleaded guilty to one count of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, and one count of assaulting an emergency worker by beating during a hearing at York Magistrates Court on October 7.
According to court documents, Gibb shouted racial abuse at a named police constable with intent to cause alarm, harassment or distress on September 29.
On the same day, the 36-year-old assaulted a different police officer – a named inspector – by beating him.
Both offences happened at an unspecified location in Harrogate.
The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Gibb, who is of no fixed address, will return to York Magistrates on November 4 for sentence.
