A Masham man has been accused of a string of sex offences.
Keith Metcalfe, 62, appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court this afternoon (December 18) charged with five offences: three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, one count of sending a photograph or film of genitals to cause alarm, distress or humiliation, and one count of attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.
It is alleged Mr Metcalfe attempted to engage in sexual communication with girls for his own sexual gratification, including attempting to encourage one girl to masturbate.
Mr Metcalfe is also accused of intentionally sending or giving a girl a photo of a person’s genitals for his own sexual gratification.
The defendant, of Westholme Road, also allegedly attempted to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity involving the penetration of her vagina.
All of the alleged offences took place between April 22 and May 2, 2024.
No pleas were entered and the case was transferred to York Crown Court, where Mr Metcalfe is due to appear on January 26.
