Fire crews from Harrogate, Knaresborough and Wetherby were called to a fire at an industrial unit on Moor Lane off the A168 in Boroughbridge last night (September 10).
The fire, which was reported at 9.28pm, is believed to have been caused by lithium ion batteries that were improperly disposed.
This resulted in a waste sorting machine being set alight which staff on site attempted to put out prior to the fire crews' arrival, according to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service's incident report.
The crews used used hose reels, breathing apparuts and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
