Former Harrogate pupil George Mills has qualified for this month's Olympic Games in Paris.
Mills, 25, finished second at the UK Athletics Championships yesterday (June 30) to book his place in the British team.
It comes three weeks after he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Rome.
Mills becomes the third local athlete to qualify for Paris, alongside gymnast Harry Hepworth, who was born in Harrogate, and Ripon diver Jack Laugher, who will be taking part in his fourth games.
The son of former England footballer Danny finished second to Neil Gourley in Manchester. The duo qualified for Paris alongside 1,500 metres world champion Josh Kerr, who had already booked his place.
Mills went to Ashville College, Brackenfield School and St Aidan’s Church of England High School in Harrogate but spends most of the year abroad now, training and competing.
