Luxury hotel Grantley Hall’s country pub will open its doors this month.

The hotel near Ripon announced in May it had bought the Grantley Arms, a pub in the neighbouring village of Grantley.

In an update today (August 1), the hotel revealed the Grantley Arms will officially open on Thursday, August 14.

Gavin Swift, formerly a senior sous chef at Grantley Hall, has taken on the role of chef patron at the pub.

With more than 20 years of culinary experience, the hotel said Mr Swift’s menu will include a range of pub classics, including pies, fish and chips and king prawn cocktail.

Inspired by his childhood travels, Mr Swift will also bring a taste of the Mediterranean to the countryside, with a selection of fresh fish, chicken with tzatziki, and burrata with grilled peaches, cucumber and mint on offer.

Mr Smith, who joined the Grantley Hall culinary team in 2019, today said:

It’s a real honour to be appointed chef patron at the Grantley Arms. I’ve been part of the Grantley Hall team for several years now, and I’m proud to bring everything we stand for – exceptional quality, local ingredients, and true Yorkshire hospitality – into a relaxed, countryside setting. I actually became a chef by accident, but my very first job was in a pub. So, it feels quite special to be returning to my roots, leading a pub we hope will become a true culinary destination.

Inside, the pub’s original fireplaces and ceiling beams have been retained, and visitors can enjoy food and drinks on the outdoor terrace with a view of the area's rolling hills.

The Grantley Arms will open Wednesday to Sunday, and is family and dog-friendly.
