Fire crews were summoned to rescue a vehicle today after it was driven into floodwater in Ripon.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report for today (January 1) said a crew from Ripon was called out at 2.34pm.
The report does not say whereabouts in the city the incident took place, but the River Ure and its tributary the River Skell have both burst their banks.
The ford over the Skell has been impassable and the Dishforth Road linking Ripon and Sharow closed due to flooding.
The report said:
A 'road closed' sign at the Sharow Lane/Dishforth Road exit from the Ripon bypass roundabout this afternoon.
Flooded fields adjacent to Magdalen's Road in Ripon.
