Harrogate Fire Station.

Crews from six fire stations were called out early this morning to a blaze in Masham.

Firefighters from Harrogate, Ripon, Bedale, Thirsk, Leyburn and Northallerton were mobilised at 5.50am following reports of smoke coming from a grain store operated by animal feed manufacturer I'Anson Brothers.

According to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the crews located an electrical fire in the building, and set about putting it out using hose reel jets, foam extinguishers and breathing apparatus.

The fire was extinguished, and some crews remained on site to dampen the area down.

A spokesperson for I'Ansons told the Stray Ferret:

It was a small fire – much smaller than initial reports suggested – and it was spotted early on, so it remained contained.

It had no impact on us other than that we got to see how well the fire service reacts to these things. It's business as usual.
