Costa Coffee is to open a shop inside a Harrogate supermarket.
Sainsbury's, on Wetherby Road, closed its in-store café in April as part of a nationwide initiative to shut its remaining 61 cafés.
Over 3,000 jobs were lost nationwide as a result.
But a new tenant is moving in. Costa signs were seen in the supermarket today.
In February last year, the coffee shop giant announced a £3 million investment into 11 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK. Harrogate was not on the initial list.
The Stray Ferret contacted Sainsbury’s and Costa Coffee for information about the opening.
A Costa Coffee spokesperson said:
We’re looking forward to opening our Costa Coffee store in Harrogate, Sainsburys, this winter. We’re hiring a team of up to 10 talented baristas who are excited to serve the local community and shoppers alike their favourite handcrafted drinks and tasty food.
Sainsbury's declined to comment.
