A Harrogate man is to face trial after he denied using controlling or coercive behaviour towards a named woman during a relationship.
Grant Cowlishaw, 56, of East Parade, appeared at York Crown Court via video link today (April 7) when his case was adjourned for a trial in September.
He is charged with one count of using controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship during a period spanning nearly four years, between April 2021 and March this year.
It’s alleged that during that time, he used violence against the woman, repeatedly degraded her verbally and monitored her phone use.
The prosecution also alleges that at the end of the relationship Mr Cowlishaw sent her repeated Facebook messages and turned up uninvited at her mother’s address.
Judge Simon Hickey adjourned the case for a trial on September 22. It is expected to last at least two days.
