North Yorkshire Police has announced measures to prevent illegal horse and trap racing on a major road near Boroughbridge.
A recent police newsletter cited a recent race on the A168 between Dishforth and Boroughbridge.
It added officers had launched Operation Pony to tackle the issue.
The force today told the Stray Ferret footage of the incident had circulated on social media, adding:
The local neighbourhood policing team have implemented a dedicated operation to ensure that any similar incidents are swiftly dealt with.
Officers said high visibilty patrols, engagement and planned focus around traffic offences will all be introduced as part of Operation Pony.
The spokesperson also urged members of the public to report any illegal horse and trap races to the police:
We would encourage members of the public to report this to us on 999 if it is in progress.
If you have any further information, it is 101 or you can contact us via the force website.
