The Harrogate district has had another record day for covid cases with 323 reported, according to the latest daily government figures.
The number is the highest recorded in the district since the UK Health Security Agency started reporting figures in March 2020.
Nationally, the UK has also reported a record number of infections. Figures show 129,471 cases have been recorded as the Omicron variant continues to surge.
The Harrogate district’s seven-day covid rate has also reached a record high and stands at 997 per 100,000 people.
Across the county, the rate stands at 879 and the England average is 1,217.

Meanwhile, UK Health Security Agency figures show that a total of 100,290 booster and third vaccines have been given in the Harrogate district so far.

It showed the number of patients dying at Harrogate District Hospital has declined significantly since the vaccine rollout took effect, despite soaring infection levels.

Since March 2020, 197 people have died with covid at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the number of covid patients at Harrogate District Hospital remains stable with 22 currently receiving treatment – a slight fall from 25 this time last week.
The news comes as it was revealed that hundreds of Harrogate District Hospital staff have yet to be vaccinated against covid.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid last week announced he expected to set a deadline for all unvaccinated workers to get both jabs by the beginning of April in a move which he said would help protect patients and the NHS as a whole.
111 covid cases in Harrogate district as rate continues to fallA further 111 covid cases have been confirmed in the Harrogate district as the seven-day covid rate continues to fall.
The rate has dropped to 517 per 100,000 people – yesterday it was 573.
It is now the third highest rate in North Yorkshire, below Craven and Ryedale.

The hospital was treating 19 covid patients as of Monday.

Furthermore, 12-15 year olds can now book their covid vaccines appointments.
As of today, a total of 130,659 first doses have been delivered and 122,031 second doses of the vaccine.

It brings the total number of people who have tested positive for the virus to 15,847 since the pandemic began.

The seven day average case rate per 100,000 population in Harrogate is now 506.7 – higher than any other district in North Yorkshire and above the England average of 320.3 (latest data up to September 23).

It takes the death toll from covid at the hospital since March 2020 to 188.

The district’s weekly infection rate now stands at 274 per 100,000 people, while the North Yorkshire rate is 258 and the England average stands at 259.
