The Harrogate district’s seven-day covid rate has fallen again today.
It now stands at 1,211 infections per 100,000 people, compared with 1,286 yesterday and 1,487 two days ago.
However, it remains above the North Yorkshire and England averages, which stand at 1,120 and 1,132 respectively.
Today’s figures, from the UK Health Security Agency, show that the district recorded a further 244 infections.
The latest figure for the number of covid patients being treated at Harrogate District Hospital is 27. The number is an increase from 23 on last week.
No further deaths from patients who tested positive for covid have been reported at Harrogate District Hospital, according to NHS England.

Harrogate district covid case rate rises above 500
The Harrogate district’s seven-day covid rate jumped above 500 today to stand at 518 infections per 100,000 people.
The infection rate, which was last seen at current levels almost four weeks ago, has risen by 25% in the last three days.
However, it still remains considerably lower than the England average of 844 but slightly above the North Yorkshire average of 471.
Harrogate District Hospital has reported another death from a patient who tested positive for coronavirus.
According to NHS England figures, the death was recorded on December 16.
Today, the district reported 141 covid cases.

A total of 92,912 people in the district have received either booster or third doses of the covid vaccine.

Over 18s invited for walk-in boosters at Harrogate’s ShowgroundThe Harrogate vaccination centre at Harrogate Showground has opened itself up to walk-ins for anyone over 18 who had their second covid jab over three months ago.
The walk-ins are available until Sunday when it will be reviewed again and could return to age order like other vaccination rollouts.
This was confirmed today by Yorkshire Health Network’s clinical lead for the Harrogate area Dr Cath Dixon who said:
“We’re keen to give as many people their booster jab as possible. We’re particularly interested in reaching our to pregnant women to get their booster as it is important they have it as they are high risk.”
Staff have asked people to arrive before 4.30pm to ensure they can be vaccinated.

The district recorded a further 111 covid cases today.
The district’s seven-day covid rate has dropped slightly to 450 infections per 100,000 people.
Across the county, the average stands at 406 and the England rate is 502.
Harrogate District Hospital currently has 12 covid-positive patients – a figure which has fallen from 25 over the last month.

“Covid hasn’t gone away and it is important that we do all we can to prevent it from spreading.
“I would encourage anyone who has not already had their vaccinations or booster to do so as soon as possible and for parents to let their children have the jab if they are eligible for it.”
The Harrogate district reached the grim milestone of 200 covid-related deaths today.
The figures published by NHS England show the 200th death was recorded yesterday at Harrogate District Hospital.
A further 95 covid cases were reported in the district, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,095.
The district’s seven-day covid rate has increased slightly to 455 infections per 100,000 people.
Across the county, the average stands at 418 and the England rate is 489.

Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground reopened yesterday as a vaccination site.
The showground was due to close on December 22 but it now looks set to continue until March, although this has yet to be confirmed, as the government aims to speed up the vaccination programme.

The number of first dose vaccinations given in the Harrogate district stands at 133,402, for second doses it’s 123,304 and 59,167 booster doses have been administered.
Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground will reopen as a coronavirus vaccination centre on Monday.
The site is aiming to give 20,000 covid booster jabs in two weeks.
The showground clinics are being run by Yorkshire Health Network, an organisation that represents GP practices in the Harrogate district.

The rate has dropped to 517 per 100,000 people – yesterday it was 573.
It is now the third highest rate in North Yorkshire, below Craven and Ryedale.
North Yorkshire’s average is 503 per 100,000 and England’s is 450.
No further covid deaths have been reported at Harrogate District Hospital, according to latest NHS England figures.
The hospital was treating 19 covid patients as of Monday.

Furthermore, 12-15 year olds can now book their covid vaccines appointments.
As of today, a total of 130,659 first doses have been delivered and 122,031 second doses of the vaccine.

The district’s seven-day rate remains at 667 cases per 100,000, which remains the highest in the county but is below the 739 of a week ago.
The district with the second highest rate in North Yorkshire is Ryedale, at 607.
The North Yorkshire average is 535 and the England rate stands at 482.

This week, schools in the district were encouraged to reintroduce face masks and postpone some activities after the district’s sharp rise in covid cases was linked to young people.

Public Health England today reported a further 156 cases in the Harrogate district, which takes the total since the pandemic began to 17,644.

Harrogate district reports highest daily covid cases in two weeks
Another 129 covid cases have been reported in the Harrogate district today — the highest daily number in almost two weeks.
Today’s spike in cases is the highest since the district recorded 132 cases on September 7, according to Pubic Health England figures.
It takes the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 15,122.
The district now has the second highest seven-day case rate in North Yorkshire, with 291 infections per 100,000 people. Scarborough’s rate of 322 is the highest.
The Harrogate district rate remains above North Yorkshire’s at 263 and England at 257.

The death toll at Harrogate District Hospital from covid-related illnesses since March 2020 remains at 186.
There have been 247,388 first and second vaccinations given in the Harrogate district.
Harrogate district records 72 new covid casesA further 72 covid cases have been reported in the Harrogate district today.
The infections takes the total since the pandemic began to 13,813, according to figures from Public Health England.
The district’s weekly infection rate has risen again to 372 cases per 100,000 people.

It remains above the North Yorkshire rate of 332 and the England average of 312.
No coronavirus deaths were reported at Harrogate District Hospital today. The number of covid-related fatalities since March last year remains at 184.
